Lifetec has developed a program for calculation of personnel noise exposure on behalf of the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.
The program is written in javascript for use in a browser, and takes as input an excel sheet which contain
s a list of noisy activities that are being performed. The list will normally be based on interviews with the relevant personnel groups, as well as measured area noise levels. The input is then processed and different results are produced; average noise exposure per offshore shift, worst case noise exposure during a year etc.
The results can be used to find the amount of time personnel can safely work on a given activity, to find areas where noise reduction measures will have the most effect, or for reporting exposure levels to the authorities.
